“Wrong-way” driver on a Canada wide driving ban, say police

Just after 4:30 Saturday morning, February 9, 2019, Brandon police saw a vehicle travelling in the wrong direction on Princess Street, Princess is a one-way street that heads westbound.

Officers stopped the 2007 Toyota Corolla and learned that the 24-year-old driver was banned from driving in Canada.

He was placed under arrest. A search of the man uncovered a can of bear spray in his pocket. Bear Spray is considered a prohibited weapon in Canada.

Police learned that the suspect was also under an order that prohibited him from possessing any weapons.

He was charged with Prohibited Driving, Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous, and Possession of a Weapon contrary to a Prohibition Order. 

Police say the suspect was released on a promise to appear in court in April.
