Three teens are facing a number of charges after they were involved in a hit and run in Brandon Friday afternoon.

It all started just after 3:00pm on Friday February 17, 2017 when police received a call about a hit and run in the 100 block of McTavish Avenue. A vehicle rear-ended another vehicle then drove away. A few minutes later police got another report that a similar vehicle slammed into a snow bank in the 300 block of Fredrick Street.

A witness to the second incident told police that two males and one female were in the vehicle that was involved in the crash.

The witness also at one point detained the female until one of the male suspects pulled a knife in an attempt to free the female suspect. The witness at this point released the female and all three suspects fled before police arrived.

Officers flooded the area and began an intensive search for the three suspects. Police eventually caught the suspects, a 14 year old female for Brandon, a 16 year old male from Brandon and a 16 year old male from Long Plains.

The male and female suspects from Brandon were released on a promise to appear. The suspect from Long Plains appeared in court and has been charged with asault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose and possession of property obtained by crime.
