Woman stabbed in neck in Main Street hotel

A woman in her 40s is recovering in hospital after she was stabbed in the neck in a Main Street hotel on Monday March 11, 2024.

The incident happened in the 600 block of Main Street around 10:30 p.m. Shortly afterwards officers on patrol in the area were flagged down by the victim. Police provided immediate emergency medical care. The victim was taken to hospital stable condition.

Police were given a description of the suspect and locate a 23-year-old female in a nearby hotel suite. She was placed in custody. Officers say that neither party knew each other prior to the incident and the accused went to the victim’s suite and stabbed her.

Mariana Brandi Okemow of Winnipeg has been charged for her alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon and two counts of Possession of a Weapon and Fail to Comply with Probation.

Okemow was detained in custody.
