In the early morning hour of July 4, 2017 a 25 year old woman was confronted by a male as she was standing on the sidewalk in the 1400 block of Main Street. The suspect demanded the woman’s property and when she refused the male pulled out a sawed-off shotgun and pointed it at her. The woman was then hit and the suspect stole the victims bag as he fled on foot. The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Police responded and were able to track the suspect with the help of Air-1. He was arrested in the 100 block of Smithfield Avenue. Police recovered the property stolen from the woman and a loaded shotgun.
25 year old Clinton Jordan McKenzie has been charged for his alleged involvement with the following:
- Robbery with Firearm
- Use Firearm in Commission of Offence
- Careless Use of Firearm
- Point Firearm
- Possess Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Carry Concealed Weapon
- Possess Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possess Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
- Possess Firearm through Commission of Offence
- Breach of Court Orders
McKenzie was detained in custody.
