Winnipeg police say that a 65-year-old woman is recovering after the vehicle she was a passenger in was hit by gunshots.
The incident happened around 5:00 pm on December 31, 2022, near the intersection of Broadway and Maryland Street.
Police say that an 18-year-old male in a Broadway residence had discharged a replica airsoft handgun from the home in the direction of the vehicle. The projectile hit the vehicle’s window causing it to shatter. The victim suffered upper body injuries caused by the broken glass.
Police arrested the male and seized the replica handgun and a machete.
Joshua Clifford Walter Bear has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault with a Weapon, Discharge Air Gun or Pistol with Intent, Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order and two counts of Possession of a Weapon.
He was detained in custody
