Winnipeg Police Service has arrested and charged two people after a woman in her 30s was found inside an SUV suffering from a gunshot wound early Thursday morning, March 23. 2023.
According to police, a roving security guard came across an SUV that had crashed into a fence around 4:00 am and called 911.
When officers arrived they worked to get the vehicle open as the collision with the fence had pinned some of the doors shut. The woman had been shot in the lower body. Once she was out of the vehicle paramedics transported the victim to the hospital in unstable condition but she was later upgraded to stable.
Investigators learned that earlier in the night the victim was at a nearby condo when she was threatened and chased by a male who was armed with a handgun and a BB gun. At some point she was shot with the firearm. The suspect along with a female suspect put the victim into an SUV. The female suspect drove the SUV into the fence and got stuck. The victim was assaulted the the two suspects fled.
Police say that the male had allegedly threatened the victim with a firearm a week earlier. Both of the suspects are known to the victim.
Police went to a residence in the 200 block of Midwinter Avenue and took the female suspect into custody. The male suspect jumped from a second-floor window in an attempt to flee but was also arrested.
Officers recovered 10 ounces of Meth and a BB gun from the SUV.
39-year-old Christopher Houston Gordon Has been charged for his alleged involvement with:
- Aggravated Assault
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
- Forcible Confinement
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized x 2
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
27-year-old Kiah Leigh Danyluk Has been charged for her called involvement with:
- Forcible Confinement
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
- Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
- Drive without licence or with invalid licence (Highway Traffic Act)
Both of the accused were detained in custody.
