Woman Hospitalized After Being Run Over in Parking Spot Dispute

A heated argument over a parking spot escalated into a dangerous incident on Saturday afternoon, leaving a woman hospitalized with lower body injuries. Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 40-year-old woman in connection with the incident.

On March 22, 2025, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers from the West District responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in a parking lot located in the 1200 block of St. James Street.

According to police, the victim, a woman in her 30s, was standing in an open parking spot, attempting to reserve it for her arriving family at a recreational facility. As her family approached, another vehicle entered the area. An argument ensued between the victim and the second vehicle’s driver over the reserved parking spot.

The situation quickly turned violent when the driver allegedly drove directly into the parking stall, striking the victim and knocking her to the ground. The victim became trapped under the front tires of the SUV.

The driver then fled the scene without regard for the injured woman lying beneath her vehicle.

Emergency services arrived and transported the victim to a local hospital. She is currently listed in stable condition, suffering from lower body injuries.

Winnipeg Police were able to identify and locate the driver involved in the incident. She was taken into custody and now faces charges of Assault with a Weapon and Drive Carelessly under the Highway Traffic Act.

The 40-year-old female was released on an Undertaking.
