RCMP is investigating after a 65-year-old woman dies after falling from a boat and hitting a propeller on the Winnipeg River.

Police say that on September 4, 2023, a fishing boat with the deceased and a 65-yrear-old male diver on board hit a log in the river causing the female to fall backward into the river and hit the propeller of the watercraft. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries.

A nearby boat rushed to the scene after the three people on board witnessed the collision. They took the male and female to the Lac du Bonnet town dock where they were met by police and EMS. As paramedics treated the injuries an RCMP officer performed CPR until STARS Air Ambulance arrived to transport the victim to Health Sciences Centre.

The woman died from her injuries on September 6, 2023.

RCMP are continuing to investigate.
