At approximately 1:45 am, the Winnipeg Police Service responded to reports of an injured person on the Redwood Bridge. Upon arrival, officers found a 49-year-old female from Winnipeg suffering from serious injuries. Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attended to the woman, but unfortunately, she was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A preliminary investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service Traffic Division’s Collision Investigation Section indicates that the woman was lying on the ground of the bridge when she was struck by a westbound vehicle. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
