WOMAN AND PETS DIE IN EARLY MORNING BLAZE

Smoke was billowing from an Elmwood home when fire crews pulled up early Tuesday morning.

It happened around 6:00 am on Martin Avenue West just east of Henderson Highway.

Crews quickly put out the fire but then discovered the body of a woman on the floor. According to police the woman was believed to be in her 30s. The fire also took the life of a dog, a cat and a third unknown type of pet.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time.

The investigation continues.
