Manitoba’s police watchdog, The Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) of Manitoba is asking for witnesses to come forward regarding the June 20, 2019 arrest of a 14-year-old male suspect.
According to the IIU the police were called to the bus loop in front of Kildonan Place Shopping Centre for a male armed with a hatchet and acting aggressively.
Police took the male youth into custody but during his arrest, he was injured. The suspect was taken to Children’s Hospital where it was learned he had a fracture to his elbow.
Under their mandate the IIU must investigate all serious injuries.
