Winnipeg Woman Injured in Skywalk Assault; Man Arrested

A senior citizen was injured in an unprovoked assault in the Winnipeg Skywalk on Friday morning, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

Officers responded to a call for assistance from off-duty officers at approximately 10:15 a.m. on February 21, 2025, near the library/Donald section of the Skywalk. Upon arrival, they learned that a female in her 70s had been assaulted by a male suspect.

The victim reported that she and a co-worker were walking through the Skywalk when she moved aside to allow a male to pass. Without warning, the male allegedly body checked her, causing her to fall to the ground. During the fall, she struck a window and a railing, sustaining injuries to her upper body.

Fortunately, off-duty Winnipeg Police Service officers were in the vicinity and witnessed the assault. They intervened, and after a brief struggle, apprehended the suspect and called for on-duty assistance.

The victim was treated for her injuries, and the extent of those injuries has not been released.

Samer Dagher, 49, of Winnipeg, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Assault Cause Bodily Harm and has been detained in custody.
