Winnipeg Woman Charged after allegedly Forcing Another Female to Work as an Escort

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Counter Exploitation Unit (CEU) has charged a 34-year-old woman in connection with a coercive relationship involving a female survivor in her 20s. The investigation began in early October 2024 after the survivor reported being groomed by an adult female known to her. Initially, the survivor received gifts such as clothing, jewellery, and drugs from the woman.

Between September 2023 and October 2024, the woman demanded that the survivor repay these gifts by working as an escort. The woman arranged meetings through online advertisements, where the survivor provided sexual services for money. The woman took all the proceeds earned by the survivor.

On November 4, 2024, Michelle Victoria Comber of Winnipeg was charged with Procuring Person to Provide Sexual Services, Material Benefit from Sexual Services, Trafficking in Persons, and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order. She was detained in custody.

Anyone with information or wishing to speak to an investigator about crimes related to procuring sexual services is encouraged to contact the Counter Exploitation Unit at 204-986-3464 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
