Winnipeg Woman Attacked, Robbed by Teen Group on Portage Avenue

A 23-year-old woman was violently attacked and robbed while walking to her night shift on Portage Avenue early Saturday morning, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.

Police responded to a report of a strongarm robbery in the 500 block of Portage Avenue at approximately 12:00 a.m. on March 22, 2025. The victim reported being followed by a group of teens who then assaulted her, throwing her to the ground and repeatedly punching and kicking her in the head and upper body. The attackers demanded her property during the assault.

The violent attack was interrupted when a bystander yelled at the group, causing them to flee the scene. The incident was captured on video surveillance, which aided police in their investigation.

General Patrol members located three suspects in the vicinity and took them into custody. They were subsequently turned over to the Major Crimes Unit.

The victim was transported to hospital and treated for her injuries. She is currently in stable condition.

Police have charged a 14-year-old male and a 15-year-old female with Robbery. They have been detained in custody. A 12-year-old female has also been charged with Robbery and was released on an Undertaking.
