On June 29, 2024, a late-night incident on Winnipeg Transit led to the arrest of a male and female near Grassie Boulevard and Lagimodiere Boulevard.
At approximately 1:00 a.m., East District General Patrol members responded to a Mischief/Weapon-related incident. The investigation revealed that the male and female had boarded the bus and subsequently became involved in a verbal dispute. After disembarking, the Bus Operator secured the vehicle, denying the male suspect re-entry. In response, the male produced a large knife and damaged multiple bus windows. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Officers on the scene promptly located and apprehended both individuals.
The male suspect, aged 19, is facing charges of Possession of a Weapon and Mischief Under $5000. He has since been released.
The female suspect, aged 16, was detained under the Intoxicated Persons Detention Act.
