Winnipeg Transit in association with Manitoba Public Insurance are make bus rides free to everyone in the city on New Year’s Eve.

The free ride program applies to all regular and Handi-Transit service on December 31, 2018, from 7:00 pm until the end of service. The last bus departs the downtown area at about 1:35 am on January 1st.

“The Free Ride program provides a free and responsible way for Winnipeggers get home after ringing in the New Year,” said Councillor Matt Allard, Chair of the Standing Policy Committee on Infrastructure Renewal and Public Works. “Thank you to Manitoba Public Insurance and Winnipeg Transit for helping keep our roads safe and enabling residents to make the right choice to not drink and drive.”

Last year more than 15,000 people took advantage of the free rides, many leaving their vehicles at home, to enjoy the festivities.
