Winnipeg to reduce non-essential services

The City of Winnipeg announced on Friday March 20, 2020 that they will be reducing non-essential services.

Animal Services will be closed to members of the public effective at the end of the day Friday March 20. Appointments will be required for animal adoption or reuniting lost dogs with their owners.

The Assessment and Taxation department will close their front counter to the public effective at the end of the business day.

The City Clerk’s office will be limiting the services they offer to the following:

  •  Providing proof of life for pensioners
  • Receipt of legal services against the City of Winnipeg
  • Receipt and processing of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) requests
  • Receipt and processing of appeals/other time-sensitive documents

Community Services front counters are closed to the public until further notice.

Planning, Property and Development are suspending all interior residential inspections as of end of day Friday March 20.

Booking of parks for over 50 people are being cancelled and no new parks bookings are being accepted until further notice.

The Winnipeg Parking Authority is closing The Parking Store on Portage Avenue to members of the public.

Public Access to Fire Stations is restricted to emergencies only.

Payments for some city services can be made online or through 311.
