Winkler Police have arrested five teens from Winnipeg who allegedly robbed the Manitoba Liquor Mart in the community on Saturday afternoon, February 15, 2020.
Police say a number of youths and one adult walked into the store on Cargil Road in Winkler and stole several bottles of liquor then fled in a vehicle that had been reported stolen in Winnipeg.
Police say that one of the suspects was armed with a weapon during the robbery.
About 15 minutes after the robbery police in the neighbouring community of Morden spotted the suspect vehicle on a rural road and tried to stop it.
The suspects fled and a brief pursuit ensued until the suspects became stuck in a ditch.
All five occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody.
Police searched the stolen vehicle and discovered about 70 bottles of liquor inside.
A 19-year-old male, 17-year-old female, 16-year-old female, 15-year-old female and a 14-year-old male all from Winnipeg are facing charges including Robbery with a Weapon, Take Motor Vehicle Without Owners Consent, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime as well as several other offences.
