In the early hours of April 15, 2024, a 56-year-old man was admitted to a Winnipeg hospital with a serious gunshot wound. The victim had visited a friend’s residence on the 800 block of William Avenue when he was shot through the door after knocking. The victim managed to escape and seek medical attention, alerting the police to the incident.
The Tactical Support Team responded swiftly to the location. A man and a woman were apprehended as they exited the residence. A third suspect, another adult male, remained inside for some time before he was safely taken into custody.
The Major Crimes Unit continued the investigation. At approximately 1:10 p.m., officers executed a search warrant at the residence. A modified rifle and a magazine loaded with ammunition were discovered and seized.
Three individuals have been charged in connection with the incident:
Addison Jay LAROQUE, 25, faces multiple charges for his alleged involvement, including discharging a restricted or prohibited firearm with intent, assault with a weapon, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and failure to comply with a release order seven times.
Peyton GOTT, 23, has been charged with similar offences for his alleged involvement, including discharging a restricted or prohibited firearm with intent, assault with a weapon, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
Summer YOUNG, 20, is also facing charges for her alleged involvement, including discharging a restricted or prohibited firearm with intent, assault with a weapon, and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
All three suspects have been detained in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
