As many as 4,000 homes will be participating in a food waste collection pilot program says the City of Winnipeg.
Some residents in Daniel McIntyre, Inkster Gardens, Lindon Woods, Mission Gardens and St. George will be asked to participate in the trial that will begin in October.
During the pilot food waste will be collected from participants and taken to Brady Landfill where it will be composted.

The purpose of the trial is to determine the best way to collect food waste from all homes in the city and also to determine if residents feel the service is valuable.
Selected households is the identified neighbourhoods will receive a letter from the city in August outlining the program.
