Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is investigating a series of violent incidents in the city and asking for the public’s help in their ongoing investigations.
On the morning of May 30, 2024, a man in his 30s was stabbed and robbed of his bike on Portage Avenue. The suspect, who remains unidentified, fled the scene on the stolen bike. WPS officers provided emergency medical care to the victim, who was initially in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable after being transported to the hospital. The previous night, a home invasion occurred on Aberdeen Avenue. A group of armed suspects entered a residence, assaulted a 14-year-old male, and fired shots before fleeing. The youth, who suffered weapon-related injuries to his upper body, was transported to the hospital and is now in stable condition. The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation and is seeking information on the suspects.
In another incident on May 30, a couple’s home on Talbot Avenue was broken into by an unknown male. The couple managed to escape and called the police from a safe distance. The suspect, a 23-year-old male from Winnipeg, was taken into custody and charged with Break & Enter with Intent – Dwelling House. He was released on an Undertaking when sober as per the Criminal Code.
