The City of Winnipeg is recalling 350 Community Services staff members who had been laid off or redeployed as they prepare to reopen outdoor swimming pools and wading pools.
Heated pools at Kildonan Park, Transcona Aquatic Park, St. Vital Outdoor Pool and Westdale Outdoor pool will open on Friday, June 25. All other outdoor pools are set to open on Monday, June 28.
In keeping with public health orders capacity at the pools will be reduced to help ensure physical distancing.
Registration for swim blocks prior to arriving at most outdoor heated pools is encouraged. They say drop-ins are not guaranteed to get access due to capacity restrictions. Unheated pools are drop-in only.
The city noted that lockers will not be available.
