Winnipeg Police warn of COVID-19 Scam

Winnipeg Police are reporting an email scam related to COVID-19.

Police say that the scammers are sending unsolicited email to individuals advising them that they have likely been contaminated by Coronavirus that causes COVID-19.

The email goes on to request the victim to provide their credit card details so that medication can be sent to the victim related to the virus.

Police are advising the public to delete emails or texts and to hang up on phone calls related to this scam.

In a media conference held Monday Manitoba’s Chief Public Health Officer, Dr. Brent Roussin said that they are aware of the scam and public health officials would never ask for your credit card number of other financial information.
