Winnipeg Police Seize Stolen Firearm and Drugs After Responding to a Gun Call

In a pre-dawn operation today, the Winnipeg Police Service arrested four individuals from an apartment complex on the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue. The arrests were made following a tip-off about an adult male in possession of a firearm.

Upon arrival, Central District General Patrol officers located the male suspect and arrested him without incident. Three other adults present in the suite were also taken into custody peacefully. During a routine check of the apartment, officers discovered several items in plain view which were subsequently seized as evidence.

The confiscated items include a stolen Colt .41 Calibre Revolver, an Air Pistol modified to accept .22 Calibre ammunition, a Collapsible Baton, a Butterfly Knife, and various calibre ammunition. Officers also seized approximately 60 grams of Cocaine, 56 grams of Fentanyl, and 233 grams of Psilocybin, with an estimated street value of $16,600. Additionally, around $2,300 in Canadian currency and packaging materials were found.

The primary suspect, identified as 23-year-old Caleb Roch of Winnipeg, is facing multiple charges. These include two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized, two counts of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm or restricted weapon obtained by crime, possession of firearm or restricted/prohibited weapon or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, two counts of possession of a scheduled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, and four counts of failure to comply with condition of release order. Roch has been detained in custody.

A 27-year-old female, also arrested during the operation, has been charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was released on an Appearance Notice as mandated by the Criminal Code. The two other individuals, a 29-year-old male and a 23-year-old female, were released without charges. The Winnipeg Police Service continues its investigation into the matter.
