Winnipeg police officer facing charges for making threats

Winnipeg Police have arrested one of their own after an investigation from their Professional Standards Unit.

The investigation was the result of incidents that happened to two on duty police officers in 2016.

A 40-year-old, fifteen-year member of the WPS is facing several charges for threats he was allegedly involved in making including:

-Point Firearm x2
-Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm x2

The Professional Standards Unit has told the Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba of the officer’s arrest. The IIU had been monitoring the investigation.

The arrested officer has been placed on administrative leave after he was released on a promise to appear.

The officer’s name has not been released.
