Shooting Incident
On November 13, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to multiple reports of gunshots in the Corydon/Arbuthnot area. Officers from the West District and the Tactical Support Team discovered an adult male in his 20s with serious gunshot injuries in the 700 block of McMillan Avenue. Emergency medical care was administered, and the victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition. After receiving treatment, his condition was upgraded to stable.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, and the incident is not believed to be random. The Major Crimes Unit is actively investigating and urges anyone with information to contact them at 204-986-6219 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
Assault Weapon IncidentOn November 14, 2024, at approximately 10:12 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to an assault with a weapon in the 1600 block of Portage Avenue. Officers found a 27-year-old male victim with minor upper body wounds, who was treated and released at the scene.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect, who was asked to leave an establishment in the area, armed himself with a box cutter and injured the victim. The suspect and victim were not acquainted. The suspect fled before police arrived but was apprehended nearby without incident.
Tetesnaabijiirobinson Cote, 27, of Winnipeg, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon, and Failure to Comply with a Condition of Release Order. He remains in custody.
