On October 26, 2024, at approximately 2:12 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of a carjacking in progress in the 300 block of York Avenue. Central District General Patrol officers learned that a 45-year-old female victim was robbed of her Toyota Tundra in a parking lot near the intersection of York Avenue and Carlton Street. During the altercation, the victim was run over by her own vehicle as it fled. She suffered significant injuries and was transported to the hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable.
The stolen vehicle was later recovered by police in the Elmwood area. The Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation, and no arrests have been made at this time.
