The Winnipeg Police Service has made significant progress in the ongoing homicide investigation of 28-year-old Ashley Isabella Murdock, a member of Fisher River and Jackhead First Nation, who was residing in Winnipeg.
On July 5, 2024, at approximately 7:20 a.m., Ashley was found deceased at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Kennedy Street. Her death was deemed suspicious, prompting the Homicide Unit to take over the investigation.
Initial findings revealed that Ashley had been reported missing on July 3. Investigators from the Missing Person Unit, working closely with family and community members, determined that her last known contact was on June 26. It is believed that Ashley was moved from another location while already deceased before being discovered on Kennedy Street.
The investigation has led to the arrest and charging of three individuals. On July 18, 32-year-old Kelly Marie Kroeker of Winnipeg was charged with Second Degree Murder. Earlier, on July 15, 28-year-old Kenneth Walter Young of Winnipeg was charged with Accessory to Murder, followed by the arrest of 38-year-old Charles Harold Wood of Winnipeg on July 14, also charged with Accessory to Murder. All three suspects have been detained in custody.
The Homicide Unit is now seeking the public’s assistance in locating 26-year-old Devon Charlie Colomb, who is wanted for Accessory to Murder. The police advise the public not to approach Colomb and to contact the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477) or visit winnipegcrimestoppers.org if they have any information on his whereabouts.
The investigation is ongoing.
