Winnipeg Police Arrest Suspect in Anti-Semitic Graffiti Case

Between September 28 and December 31, 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service received numerous reports of graffiti featuring anti-Semitic acronyms and symbols, including swastikas, on various structures, objects, and fences within a Charleswood neighborhood.

Officers from the West District General Patrol, Community Support Units, and School Resource Section collected CCTV evidence and spoke with property owners who had been victimized. These reports were forwarded to the Major Crimes Unit – Hate Crimes Section.

Investigators identified a suspect believed to be involved in these offenses. On January 12, 2025, the Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, executed a search warrant at a residence in the Westdale neighborhood. An adult male, Nevin Thunder YOUNG (19) of Winnipeg, was taken into custody.

YOUNG has been charged with 26 counts of Mischief Under $5,000 and remains in custody. The Major Crimes Unit’s Hate Crimes investigators are continuing their investigation.
