Winnipeg Police Arrest Key Suspect in Major Drug Trafficking Investigation

A significant investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service’s Guns & Gangs Unit has culminated in the arrest of a key suspect involved in an extensive drug trafficking network in the city.

In November 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service initiated an investigation targeting individuals suspected of drug trafficking. This led to multiple search warrants and the identification of several suspects. Despite extensive efforts, a 41-year-old male suspect managed to elude arrest, prompting the issuance of a warrant for his capture.

On January 12, 2025, at approximately 8:12 a.m., North District General Patrol officers arrested 41-year-old Kevan Anderson of Winnipeg following a traffic stop in the Point Douglas area. Initially, Anderson provided fraudulent identification and a fictitious name, but was eventually identified and arrested on outstanding warrants. During the arrest, officers found a sawed-off .22 calibre rifle with ammunition, 20 grams of fentanyl, 6 grams of crack cocaine, $225 in Canadian currency believed to be proceeds of crime, and fraudulent identification.

Anderson now faces a total of 22 charges for his alleged involvement, including those related to illegal firearms possession, drug trafficking, and possession of proceeds of crime, as well as breaches of court orders. He has been detained in custody.

In connection with the ongoing investigation, the police had previously executed search warrants on December 11, 2024. These operations led to the seizure of significant quantities of drugs, including 545 grams of fentanyl, 327 grams of methamphetamine, 232 grams of cocaine, and other illegal substances. Firearms and large amounts of cash were also confiscated.

Among those charged in the investigation were 47-year-old Cory Kozmenski, 42-year-old Jerrold McIvor, 26-year-old Abidol Tang, 46-year-old Cloe Calder, and 32-year-old Katrina Muswagon, all of Winnipeg. Charges ranged from drug trafficking and firearms offences to breaches of court orders.

While most of these individuals have been released on undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code, Kozmenski and Anderson remain in custody.
