A 19-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Pembina Highway near McGillivray Boulevard at approximately 2:10 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, 2024, according to the Winnipeg Police Service.
The West District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of the Auxiliary Force Cadet Unit, responded to the scene and managed traffic control. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service provided medical care to the injured pedestrian, who was initially transported to the hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable.
The driver of the involved vehicle, an adult, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. The Traffic Division has taken over the investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the pedestrian ran into the path of the northbound vehicle, leaving no time for the driver to avoid the collision. As a result, no charges are anticipated.
The Winnipeg Police Service is appealing to the public for any information or video surveillance, including dash camera footage, that may assist in the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-7085 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477). Information can also be submitted online at winnipegcrimestoppers.org.
