Winnipeg Man Succumbs to Injuries; Suspect Charged with Manslaughter

A verbal dispute turned fatal in the early hours of July 1, 2024, when a 43-year-old Winnipeg man was found critically injured on King Edward Street.

The Winnipeg Police Service responded to a distress call at approximately 12:14 a.m. from the 600 block of King Edward Street. Upon arrival, West District General Patrol officers discovered an unresponsive male who had sustained life-threatening injuries.

The victim, later identified as Eugene Rob Ryan Little, was immediately transported to a local hospital in critical condition but soon succumbed to his injuries.

Officers on the scene apprehended an adult male suspect in the vicinity. The Homicide Unit, which has since taken over the investigation, revealed that the victim and the suspect were known to each other. The altercation began as a verbal dispute, which tragically escalated when the suspect physically assaulted Little.

The suspect, Dion Tyson Jamie Wood, 23, also of Winnipeg, has been charged with Manslaughter and is currently detained in custody.

Family notifications have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
