A tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of Saturday on Furby Street, Winnipeg, leaving a man critically injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital. The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Abubakarr Koroma.
At approximately 2:30 a.m., on June 2, 2024, Winnipeg Police Service Officers officers from the Central District, with the assistance of the K9 Unit, responded to a distress call from the 500 block of Furby Street. Upon arrival, they found 46-year-old Abubakarr Koroma critically injured. Police provided emergency medical care until the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) arrived. Koroma was transported to the hospital in unstable condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The incident is being treated as a homicide. Investigators believe an altercation took place between Koroma and another individual, which resulted in his fatal injuries. The details surrounding the altercation remain unclear, and the investigation is ongoing.
Family notifications have been made, and the grief-stricken family is now mourning the loss of their loved one. The community has been left shaken by this tragic incident.
