A 28-year-old man is fighting for his life after a violent stabbing incident early Sunday morning. Winnipeg Police are appealing to the public for information as they investigate the attack.
Officers from the Central and East District General Patrol responded to a call at approximately 4:05 a.m. on March 9, 2025, concerning a stabbing at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Young Street. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim suffering from multiple upper-body injuries consistent with a stabbing.
Officers immediately provided emergency medical care, including applying a chest seal, to stabilize the victim. The man was taken to hospital in critical condition, where he underwent emergency surgery.
Detectives have determined that the victim was initially approached and assaulted by a group of suspects in the 600 block of Portage Avenue. The suspects used an edged weapon in the assault before fleeing the scene.
