A late-night assault on Kennedy Street has turned deadly, prompting a homicide investigation by the Winnipeg Police Service.
On June 11, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., police responded to a distress call from the 400 block of Kennedy Street. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering from life-threatening injuries believed to be from a stabbing.
Officers from the Central District General Patrol provided immediate emergency medical care to the victim until the arrival of an ambulance. Despite their efforts, the man was transported to the hospital in critical condition where he was later pronounced deceased.
The victim has been identified as 49-year-old Ricky Dwayne Mancheese of Winnipeg. Family notifications have been completed.
The Homicide Unit has since taken over the investigation. As of now, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
