Winnipeg Man Facing Second-Degree Murder Charges Following Homicide Discovery

A 31-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder following the discovery of a deceased woman at a downtown Winnipeg hotel on Sunday, April 6th.

According to the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS), the investigation began when the accused attended WPS Headquarters to turn himself in on an unrelated warrant.

During the intake process, new information came to light, prompting officers from the Central District to investigate a hotel in the 300 block of Ellice Avenue. At this location, police discovered the body of a deceased adult female.

The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Tara Walker, a member of the Chemawawin Cree First Nation.

The WPS Homicide Unit subsequently took over the investigation. Their inquiries revealed that the deceased and the accused were known to one another. Investigators determined that an altercation occurred within the hotel room, ultimately leading to Walker’s death.

As a result of their investigation, Andrew James Sinclair, 31 years old and from Easterville, Manitoba, has been charged for his alleged involvement with Second Degree Murder.
