RCMP have charged a Winnipeg man with human smuggling following a traffic stop on McGillvray Boulevard early Thursday morning, February 22, 2024.
According to police vehicle contained the driver along with seven males and one female in their 20s and 30s. Seven of the passengers were from the Republic of Chad and one from the Republic of Mali.
The 30-year-old male driver, Abdi Hassan Ali, was arrested, charged and detained in custody.
The passengers were arrested and handed over to immigration officials in Winnipeg.
RCMP continue to investigate.
