An 18-year-old Winnipeg man is facing multiple charges following a series of assaults that took place on May 31, 2024. The Winnipeg Police Service responded to several reports of a male suspect acting erratically and assaulting residents in the first 100 block of Claremont Avenue at approximately 4:45 p.m.
The suspect reportedly kicked the glass entry door of a residence and attempted to physically assault a 71-year-old male resident before fleeing on foot. He then approached a 34-year-old female and her young child outside their residence in a threatening manner. Fortunately, both were unharmed as the suspect continued to flee.

They observed him assaulting a 36-year-old female through the window of her parked vehicle with a water bottle. After a short foot pursuit, officers arrested the suspect without incident. The victim did not suffer any injuries as a result of the assault.
Upon arrest, officers found a prohibited knife on the suspect, which was subsequently seized. The suspect and the victims were not previously known to each other, and the suspect’s intoxication is believed to be a factor in the incidents.

He was released via an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code. The investigation is ongoing.
