Winnipeg man drowns in Whiteshell Provincial Park

RCMP are investigating the drowning of a 33-year-old Winnipeg man at the Pine Point Rapids in the Whiteshell Provincial Park on Tuesday afternoon, August 9, 2022.

When officers arrived at the scene they learned that the victim had been sliding down the falls when he got into deeper water and began to immediately have problems. The victim went under the water but did not surface. A person witnessing the incident jumped into the water to help but was not able to reach the man in time.

The victim’s body was recovered on Wednesday afternoon, August 10, by the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team, along with assistance from Manitoba Conservation Officers & Manitoba Parks staff.

Police continue to investigate.
