A 36-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of a 20-year-old man in December 2023.
As previously reported, on December 30, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of suspicious circumstances in the 200 block of Flora Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male outside.
The victim was identified as 20-year-old Brooklyn Elijah Hiebert of Winnipeg. Investigators from the Homicide Unit determined that Hiebert was the victim of a homicide.
The investigation revealed that Hiebert was assaulted in the 200 block of Selkirk Avenue, resulting in fatal injuries. He was then transported and abandoned in the 200 block of Flora Avenue.
On July 7, 2024, police arrested Christopher Kyle Wattman, 36, in the 900 block of Aberdeen Avenue. Wattman has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with Hiebert’s death and has been detained in custody.
