Winnipeg Police have charged a 26-year-old man after he was allegedly involved in a Broadway stabbing on Monday, August 15, 2022.
According to investigators, police located a critically injured male in a 300-block suite suffering from a stab wound. Officers provided emergency medical care including the use of a chest seal. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say that a firearm was located near where the victim was found and was seized.
The accused was taken into custody about two-and-a-half hours later when he showed up to a different hospital with minor injuries. Officers found and seized a knife in his possession.
Investigators believe that the victim and suspect were acquaintances at the time of the incident.
The accused was charged for his alleged involvement with Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon.
Police are withholding the name of the accused at this time as the investigation remains ongoing. The accused remains in custody.
