Winnipeg Man Charged After High-Speed Crash Causes Extensive Damage

A 21-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance following a high-speed collision on St. Mary’s Road last October, the Winnipeg Police Service announced.

The incident, which occurred on October 15, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., resulted in severe damage to a commercial business and infrastructure in the 400 block of St. Mary’s Road. According to police, a 2009 Dodge Charger SRT8, driven by the accused, was traveling at a staggering 213 km/hr moments before the collision, and impacted the business at 158 km/hr.

“Miraculously, neither the driver, passenger, other motorists, nor pedestrians, reported any injuries as a result of the high-speed collision,” said police.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the heavily damaged vehicle and significant damage to a hydro pole, guard rail, street sign, and the commercial building. The two occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Following an extensive investigation by the Collision Investigation Section, the driver was identified and arrested without incident at his residence on March 24, 2025. He has been released on an Appearance Notice, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
