Brandon Police have arrested a 20 year old Winnipeg man after he allegedly set several fires early Saturday morning.

Just before 8:00 am May 27, 2017 911 operators in Brandon received a report of a vehicle fire in the 300 block of Fredrick Street. A few minutes later emergency services got a call of a second vehicle on fire in the 300 block of Park Street. As Police and fire units were responding a call came in reporting a fire in a home located in the 100 block of Park Street.

Police cordoned off the area and brought in the K-9 unit.

Within a short time a suspect was found and detained by police. Investigators say that the man had entered several cars in the area, setting two of them on fire and damaging three others. He also stole property in the home in the 100 block of Park Street then set the house on fire.

Police say the Winnipeg man will be facing a number of charges relating to the thefts and arsons. He was held in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre and will appear in court on Monday.
