Winnipeg Man Arrested on Terrorism Charges Following Investigation

A 19-year-old Winnipeg man is facing multiple terrorism-related charges after an investigation by the RCMP’s Federal Policing National Security Enforcement Section (NSES).

Nevin Thunder Young was arrested on March 17, 2025, after an investigation that began in February, following a referral from the Winnipeg Police Service (WPS).

The RCMP have charged Young for his alleged involvement with:

  • Facilitating terrorist activity, contrary to section 83.19(1) of the Criminal Code.
  • Participation in activity of a terrorist group, contrary to section 83.18(1) of the Criminal Code.
  • Commission of an offence for a terrorist group, contrary to section 83.2 of the Criminal Code (x2).

According to the RCMP, the investigation stemmed from information provided by the Winnipeg Police Service.

Young is currently being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and is scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Provincial Court on March 18, 2025.
