A 46-year-old Winnipeg man has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of child pornography and sexual offenses after an online sting operation revealed plans to sexually assault a 10-year-old girl in the United States.
The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) announced the arrest of Adam Joseph Leszkovics on March 6, 2025, following an investigation initiated by the National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC). The investigation stemmed from information provided by a US law enforcement agency, whose undercover officer engaged in an online conversation with Leszkovics in February 2025.
According to police, the online chat revealed that Leszkovics discussed the sexual abuse of children and claimed to know a mother who allowed her 10-year-old daughter to be sexually abused. He subsequently agreed to arrangements made by the undercover officer to travel to the United States for the purpose of sexually assaulting the child.
The WPS Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the 900 block of Dorchester Avenue, where Leszkovics was arrested without incident.
Leszkovics faces a litany of charges for his alleged involvement, including:
- Makes, Prints, Publishes or Possesses for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography
- Communicate via Telecommunication to Make an Agreement or Arrangement to Commit a Sexual Offence Against a Child – Namely Child Pornography
- Communicate via Telecommunication to Make an Agreement or Arrangement to Commit a Sexual Offence Against a Child – Namely Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching
- Arrangement to Commit a Sexual Offence Against a Person Under 16 years of Age
- Access any Child Pornography
- Possession of Child Pornography
Despite the serious nature of the charges, Leszkovics was released on a Release Order, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
