91 temporary and part-time employees who were laid-off by the Winnipeg Public Library due to COVID-19 are being recalled to work.
The library says that the recall is due to the popularity of their contactless pick-up service. Currently there are 10 libraries across the system that are offering contactless holds for pickup and return services only.
“We decided to recall several of our employees so that we can keep pace with volume of returns and requests and reduce the time it takes for us to process them,” aid Ed Cuddy, Manager of Library Services.
The employees are expected to return to work beginning February 8, 2021.
