Winnipeg is gearing up for winter with the annual winter route parking ban set to take effect on Friday, December 6 at 2 a.m. The ban will remain in place until further notice. Residents are reminded to avoid parking overnight from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. on streets marked with “Winter Route” and “Snow Route” signs.
To find out if the ban applies to your parking spot, you can:
- Download the Know Your Zone app
- Search the city’s new interactive snow map, which offers real-time information on parking bans and snow clearing operations
- Contact 311 for assistance
The parking ban will be in effect daily, regardless of weather conditions. Parking on designated routes during the restricted hours is prohibited, even if it is not snowing or the street appears to have been recently cleared. Violators may face a $100 ticket ($75 if paid early) and the possibility of their vehicle being towed to a towing company’s compound.
The ban will be lifted when weather conditions improve, likely in spring 2025. The city will notify residents when the ban is no longer in effect.

Residents are encouraged to use the city’s new interactive snow map to stay updated on snow operations. The map serves as a one-stop shop for all snow-related information, including parking bans, route designations, and the clearing status of roads, sidewalks, and pathways.
The interactive map can provide information for any address within Winnipeg or offer a larger view of a community. Users can filter the map to show either all seasonal parking restrictions in effect or the status of snow clearing operations in real-time.
