A two-storey residential dwelling in the 300 block of Pacific Avenue was the scene of a fire earlier this evening. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews promptly responded to the fire reports at 4:50 p.m.
Upon their arrival, the crews observed smoke billowing from the structure. An exterior fire attack was initially launched to combat the blaze. As conditions improved and safety was ensured, firefighters entered the dwelling to extinguish the remaining fire. The situation was declared under control at 5:27 p.m., less than an hour after the initial report.
Fortunately, all residents had self-evacuated safely before the arrival of firefighters. There were no reported injuries.
The City’s Emergency Social Services team was swiftly deployed to assist the displaced residents. They are currently working to provide temporary accommodations for those affected by the fire.
At this time, damage estimates are not available. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
