The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) recently responded to two separate fires, one on Manitoba Avenue and the other on Delorme Bay.
The first incident occurred at a two-storey converted residential dwelling in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue. WFPS crews were called to the scene at 5:44 p.m. on Monday, April 15, where they found smoke coming from the structure. An interior fire attack was launched, and the fire was brought under control by 6:48 p.m. However, crews had to respond again at 2:22 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, after a fire was discovered during a fire watch check. The fire was declared under control at 3 a.m. The dwelling, which was unoccupied and boarded up due to a previous fire on March 27, 2024, suffered an unknown amount of damage. The cause of both fires is currently under investigation.
The second incident took place at a single-storey dwelling in the first 100 block of Delorme Avenue. WFPS crews responded to the scene at 1:32 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16. Upon arrival, crews observed light smoke coming from the house. They entered the building and quickly extinguished the fire, declaring it under control at 2 p.m. The occupants of the home had self-evacuated before crews arrived on scene, and no injuries were reported.
