A Winkler Police Service officer is facing assault and utter threats charges stemming from a September 11, 2021 incident.
RCMP contacted the IIU about an alleged assault involving an off-duty officer.
The civilian director of the IIU has concluded that there are reasonable grounds to believe a criminal offence occurred.
On October 13, 2021, the officer was charged and then released on an undertaking. The officer is scheduled to appear in court on December 7, 2021.
The IIU is asking for the individuals who assisted the injured male at a residence at Ditch Lake to contact them at 1-844-667-6060.
